BIBA webinar - Different states of mind in an insurance context presented by Browne Jacobson

Insurance coverage often turns on the state of mind of the policyholder.  For example, did they act ‘fraudulently´,deliberately’  or ‘recklessly’, or were they merely ‘careless’?.  This session will explore the meaning of these different states of mind (and others) in an insurance context. We will consider the impact on:

  • common policy exclusions and conditions
  • pre-inception duties for both consumers and non-consumers
  • fraudulent and exaggerated claims

Learning objectives:

  • To gain a better of understanding of the legal distinction between different states of mind
  • To understand the impact on pre-inception duties, and how that differs between consumers and non-consumers
  • To understand how different states of mind apply to common policy exclusions and conditions

This webinar may count towards your continuing professional development (CPD) requirements and a formal completion certificate will be issued for members attending and returning a feedback form.
