BIBA Schemes & Facilities webinar - Liability losses - Why are costs increasing presented by CNA Insurance Company Ltd

This session, hosted by CNA Hardy, will look at the changing landscape of liability loses and the external factors which are resulting in an increase in claims payments.

We'll present case studies of personal injury and third party property damage losses as well as the detail around how certain events and societal changes have impacted loss value.

Presenters:

Lauren Bates – Strategic Account Manager 
Lauren has been with CNA Hardy since 2021 and originally joined the business to look after the Excess Liability Portfolio. In May 2023, Lauren was promoted to Strategic Account Manager within the Regional business and, as part of that role, continues to look after the BIBA Scheme and Facility relationship.

Niala Butt – Casualty Claims Manager
Niala joined CNA Hardy in 2022 with responsibility for the Casualty and Life Science, UK and Continental Europe Lines of Business. Niala is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute and Chartered Insurer, she has significant Claims, Operations, Underwriting and Regulatory experience. Niala has specialised in complex catastrophic injury and Medical Malpractice claims across the UK and overseas jurisdictions, sitting on Government working parties, advising the Department of Health on lower value claims schemes and has an interest in inclusion, risk management and claims efficiency.

David Walsh – PI and UK Regions Claims Manager 
David is based in the CNA Hardy London office, and is responsible for all professional indemnity and cyber claims for the UK and Continental Europe. On joining CNA Hardy in 2020, David was initially a Senior Claims Technical Specialist focusing on professional indemnity claims. In 2021, he was promoted to Claims Manager for the UK and Continental Europe, and in 2023 his responsibilities were expanded to include cyber claims and UK regional claims. David is a lawyer, qualified in England & Wales, having studied history at Cambridge University followed by the Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course at BPP Law School. He completed his professional training with the law firm CMS in London, where he practiced for ten years as an insurance litigator.
