Learning objectives:

  • Define General Average and Salvage – Understand the financial obligations of your clients under carriage contracts when a vessel founders

Presenter: Alan Wilkins

Alan Wilkins has worked in the insurance sector for 35 years. Formally as an underwriter and now the CEO and owner of an independent marine insurance focussed brokerage. Commencing his career in general insurance, Alan switched to marine insurance in 2000 after taking time out of the sector to read for a degree in International Transport Management at Solent University. During his first marine insurance role he studied part time and passed a Master’s degree in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton. Alan has worked in senior positions for AXA, Aviva, CNA, Zurich, Arthur J Gallagher, prior to founding Mercari Risk Management in 2019 to focus on helping brokers to place marine insurance.

Delegates participating in the accredited webinar can claim up to 1 CPD hour towards the CII member CPD scheme. A formal completion certificate will be issued for members attending and returning a feedback form.
