Presenter - Alan Wilkins Alan Wilkins has worked in the insurance sector for 35 years. Formally as an underwriter and now the CEO and owner of an independent marine insurance focussed brokerage. Commencing his career in general insurance, Alan switched to marine insurance in 2000 after taking time out of the sector to read for a degree in International Transport Management at Solent University. During his first marine insurance role he studied part time and passed a Master’s degree in Maritime Law from the University of Southampton. Alan has worked in senior positions for AXA, Aviva, CNA, Zurich, NACORA – the in-house insurance broker owned by the largest freight forwarder in the world, Kuehne + Nagel, Arthur J Gallagher (Australia) where he led a team of 14 specialist marine insurance brokers serving the Australian Maritime community, and finally the World Logistics Council, where he advised on insurance and the digital economy as well as being a member of a number of the B20 taskforces which help set the agenda for the annual G20 conference of world leaders. Alan founded Mercari Risk Management in 2019 to focus on helping brokers to place marine insurance in the UK. |
